HISTORY
The Icet Group originates from a small family business, established by Arturo Irani, which began its activity during the second world war and developed after the war in the field of electric-mechanical systems, taking part in the post war reconstruction and in the country’s industrialisation process, operating initially in the area of the provinces of Siena and Florence.
Later, the evolution of its know-how and industrial capabilities led the company to a growth that also developed in the field of the production of medium and low voltage electric boards, while the installation activity progressed and expanded all over the region of Tuscany with fundamental bases located in areas with the highest industrial concentration: Florence, Piombino, Pisa, Rosignano Solvay, Livorno, Siena. The first significant contracts were also developed beyond the region. On parallel the natural direction of the company’s activity became a concrete reality in the sectors of the production and distribution of energy, with essential reference to ENEL.
In 1983, when the first change of generation had already taken place, with the company still firmly in the hands of the Irani family, Icet became a joint-stock company and, towards the end of the eighties, driven by the need to consolidate the market rankings acquired in many industrial fields and progress in a gradual but constant development, Icet’s management chose to address its activities also to the various sectors of the service industry, which at the time was gaining increasing importance in the national economy. The choice proved to be well timed and is witnessed by the present-day reality of western countries.
As a result of the new orientation, Icet operated in realities where the “turnkey” culture was gaining ground, owing to the rising need of customers to find “light” solutions to the problem of the management and development of new investments. This new reality, combined with the keen desire to learn and grow, spurred Icet to get new specialisations and progress towards the acquisition and development of general works, initially restricted to the field of technological systems and, later, in the mid nineties, to the completion of the range of competence with the development of the building construction sector.
At the beginning of the new millennium, Icet took part in the first experiences of project financing in Italy, acquiring further know how, which currently represents a bridge to the future, together with the company’s historical assets.
